Every blog has a option to subscribe its updates by Email at a prominent place in his/her blog. Many people put the e-mail subscription option after every blog post too! One will find many articles explaining how to optimise E-mail Subscription option so that email subscription or RSS readers increase manifold! Many will even advise you why not to use the word “Subscribe” while emphasizing updates are obtained freely, securely in their email box!

Why blogger want readers to subscribe their blog ?
Many entrepreneur, that includes me, even writes a beautiful sales pitch why to subscribe updates from blog by email!
Many blogger show off their subscriber count, (even I have done so with only 2) when the subscriber is in 3 digits! Blogging gurus will advise not to show off subscriber count, if the count is in single digit, as it may give an impression to readers that blog is either new or less regular readers!
So why blogger want readers to subscribe their blog updates by email ?
If a blog is thought as a website or a service, email subscribers of the blog can be thought as registered member or user of the blog. More the registered subscriber, bigger is the blog, more prestige! And by now you may have realised, it helps monetizing the blog, ask higher price for ad space on their blog!
Well, it is not only higher prize or prestige for the blog, it also ensures good traffic to the blog! And all bloggers use Google AdSense for feeds! While any new content is updated, email with the updated post is sent and related advertisement is displayed in the email when opened by the subscriber! Now that is a neat way of getting your Google AdSense advertisements displayed ! More the subscribers, more display of ads, more chances of getting click which will convert money!
Most probably, this is the most important reasons why bloggers want more and more email subscribers for their blogs! Though every one promises not to send any promotional messages, but I think occasionally everyone sends out some promotional emails about their blog or their friends blog, product or services!

Frankly speaking, I’m ignorant about how monetizing works for having some subscribers. Thank you for giving me an information about this.

Good post. RSS subscribers are important. Email feed subscribers are especially good because instead of email marketing to your list, they will get your latest posts in their email with your affiliate links and such inside them, instead of just blatant product pitches.

RSS subscribers are vital indeed. Not only does it show that your blog has something to offer and people want to be able to find it at their finger tips, but it is also an ego boost for the writer.

Hi ms. Freeman,
I liked the idea, it is a ego booster for the writer. It also motivates the blogger to write more.
