Money From Blogging

Recently, one of my friends, wrote me in a GTALK chat, ‘I thought earning money from blogging is almost free, earning by doing nothing, but later I realised it is as hard work as working on photoshop, dreamweaver for designing a site and then get paid.”

I was not very excited about the analogy, but the his line thinking struck me! Do I think earning from blog as easy money ? And why do I think so ? Most probably, those examples, advertisements which say, ‘how I earned $40,000 a month from my blog’, ‘Earn 10,000$ a day without any investment’ must have created an impression that making money from a blog is the easiest way to earn money!

Though after one year of blogging, I knew that it is not easy to earn even $1000, from a blog a month, let alone $40,000! But there are people who are making money $40,000 a month, more than that too, from a blog, from a website. But their number can be counted in fingers! No doubt, they give great inspiration, but it may also give wrong impression like that of my friend! Though I would say, my friend did understand much about blogging and earning online!

Still, many people do not realise that, those blogs, website which earn a $10,000 or more a month and gets thousands of visitors a day, have become brands now! They have invested a lot of hard work, time in order to build a brand of their blogs, and now they are monetising their blogs. So it does not mean that, you start a blog today and start thinking you would earn as much as those brands! It is not not possible!

So, my friend is right in a way that, one has to work as hard as one needs to work develop a website for a client. Most probably, only difference is that, you may need to do lot of marketing to keep getting website orders while in blogging you need to write many quality articles, SEO tricks to get many visitors!

So, one should not have impractical goal of earning thousands of dollars by starting a blog with very good theme, very good niche, very good contents. One will have to build up a brand for his blog, create a online reputation and than one may aim at monetising those brand, reputation. Only aiming for making money from blog without developing brand for it, may not work at all.
