What should you concentrate more content of your blog of marketing your blog ?

Many people say, content is king while many say, content is not king anymore. Some points out, context is the king now a days. But, nobody disputes marketing.

Content helps marketing. I have seen many blogs which do not have any unique contents, but still they are popular. Many blogs just writes few lines about a breaking news on their chosen niche, and they are popular. There are many blogs, they just gather latest news of certain topics, edit those news and post them with proper link, images. And they rank high in search engines and get many visitors. Number of visitors to a blog count, specially while monetizing the blog.

So, why should one write original content when there is a easy way to get more visitors ? If one does only marketing of his blog, can not the blog get many visitors even first time visitors ?

Many people points out that, a blog should offer value to its readers. Well, I say, first blogger must gather readers, right ? How does a new blogger or unknown blogger gather readers ? He has to market his blog.

There are many tools to create content. Posting breaking news of the chosen topic seems to be the easiest article one may post in his blog and that too regularly. Also, there are tools to combine many articles of the same topic, rewrite them automatically and then make one unique article which even Google can not identify to be a duplicate content. So, does hard work means using those tools, create unique content for Google and marketing those ?

Genuine original writers of blogs with original thinking has become minority now a days. Most of the blogger are trying to earn money first. Most probably, that is why marketing has become the king. Or was it always the king ?

Apart from spell checking capability, people like Google.com, because it loads very fast and provide many useful information to you!

So, by learning from Google, we must make our blogs fast to load so that visitors notice how fast your blog loads! They would surely like it when it loads as fast as Google.

Loading and website fast makes the visitor happy. All visitors wants to see any page as quickly as possible, just after clicking on the link. If your blog loads slow, probably you are losing many impatient visitors. There are various ways to speed up a WordPress blog.

If one wants to make money by blogging, one has to treat blogging as a business, period.

Well, if you thought you would blog part time and make few quick bucks, you would really make only “few” bucks, quick or other wise. Most probably, you will make $8 a month from your Google AdSense account and you will have to wait a year to get the $100 cheque from Google. And most probably you will lose interest by that time in blogging to make money.

So, if one hopes to make serious amount of money a month, one must blog seriously with a serious plan. Hmm! lot of serious. Here are my few serious list of to-do for blogging seriously for making really some money per month:

1. Make long term plan, 18 months to write at least 100 posts during that period.

2. Target keywords with each and every post. But not at the expense of quality of the post.

3. Spend time in reading other blog as well as keep yourself updated with your chosen topic in your blog. Spend time regularly.

4. Read your old articles. Edit them if you want change them.

5. Reply religiously to each and every comment on your blog. Visit the site of the commenter and reciprocate.

6. Decide target of number of visitors, earning per month. Create milestones and review monthly.

7. Maximum gap between two posts should be less than 20 days. Inform readers when you are not going to update your blog.

9. Like in any business plan, allocate fund for promotion of your blog. Send out periodical news letters to your readers.

10. Change theme of your blog periodically.

You need not be an UI expert to be a blogger!

But UI plays a very important role in giving the fist impression to your first time visitors. And remember, all visitors to your blog were a first time visitors, once. So, UI plays an important roles in converting first time visitors to a reader, and than a regular visitor.

Even if you may have a very good article or a content, if the UI (User Interface) is not appealing enough, the blog visitor may not scroll down your blog! Yes, Scroll Down is the word!

You need to think of your blog broadly into two section,
a. Non Scrolling Home page : The area of the home page your blog which is visible to a blog visitor without scrolling! This area is very important!
b. Scrolling Home Page area : This is whole home page below the Non Scrolling Area.

I recommend, one must put interesting Contents, Links, Images, Article Excerpts or anything which will entice the visitor to click on those links, articles and also scroll down!

Normally, people look at the right side for search, useful links, so put those at right side. If you are using Wordpress, try to use theme that has at least one column at the right side where you can use important and interesting widget.

Non scrolling Home Page should hold two recent posts with some excerpts. This will give better idea to the visitor about quality of contents of the blog. Anyone searching internet for any information is already an intelligent person, so he would immediately understand by glancing at those two posts, he would expect by scrolling down!

So, main importance should be given to Non Scrolling Home page while organizing your blog.

Why useful blog post ?
Useful blogpost will bring more traffic and regular readers to your blog. Regular Readers will bring more traffic and help you make money by blogging.

Writing article for your blog is a challenging task. One should never write and publish article for the sake of it. The article must be relevant and related to the blog, it should be required. Here are few tips I have thought of which might answer how to write useful article for blog?

1. Headline. Choose a headline that generates curiosity in a reader’s mind. Remember, Headline is what a reader look first, if he finds it useful, then surely he would read few lines of the post.

2. Choose a topic which is contemporary, write in simple English ( in case you are using English in your blog). Avoid difficult words. Give link to any difficult or bombastic word.

3. Write as if you are talking to a person. Reader will be feeling he is being spoken to, while reading your post. So, be nice, polite so that reader feels good while reading it.

4. Try to write short and to the point. Long articles are not necessarily good articles. 10 lines posts are better that 200 lines posts.

5. Use pictures relevant to the topic. If you write any tip or tricks, you must put give screen shots.

6. Write articles which can be read for few years at least. Of course, if your blog is on news, current affairs or gadgets, you can not help writing articles which will be short lived. But if you choose language correctly, it can be read in future too.

7. Use proper paragraphs, avoid CAPITAL LETTERS. Capitals letters would sound like as if you are screaming at your reader. Avoid many colors in text.

8. Article should have few distinct sections, Introduction, Explanation and conclusion.

If one follows these eight rules, I am quite sure, one will be able to write useful article and visitors will read them.

Rome was not built in a day! Never expect to earn $$ from the day you start blogging! Well, that is the lesson I learnt so far.

It takes time to build content. It takes time for search engines to crawl your blog. If it is not a media hyped and controversial topics, then patience is the only resort! One has to spend lot of time being online, reading stuff about one’s blog topic, know competitors. Time consuming, boring.

And the last realisation is, making money online may seem like any other work! It has one advantage, that is it needs less investment initially in terms of liquid cash! But dont get fooled by that, it may require investment in terms of time! But we normally tend to waste our time on net, if you blog and decide to make money online, you can utilise your wasted time! A big plus!

Why I blog ?

I do not know about others, but here are reasons I started blogging.

1. I spent lot of time in searching using google, yahoo about topics I needed, help I needed or information I needed. I used to store them on my laptop or bookmark them. But my laptop crashes due to virus or I just change my laptop. I lose all bookmarks, data. Or simply I forget the location of particular information on my laptop! So I thought why keep the book marks, data on website on known domain ? So I thought I should start blogging!

2. While I was bed ridden due to my medical problem, I started playing free online games! I realised many advertisements pop up on website games, which are interesting! I started clicking them to read further. I found the website owner makes money for me clicking on the advertisements! I thought, wow, anyway I spend time on net, why not me too try make some money ? So I started blogging.

3. While searching information on net, I thought I was the least informed person on the earth! Need to search everything on net. But I realized, there are people who are behind me too in the line So I thought whatever I know, if I write them, may be some one will get some help. And who knows he may help me earn money!
