Social Media are the social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, StumableUpon, Technoratti, Digg etc! You have noticed images shown at right side, at the end of many a post in many blog! That button is for adding that particular article in any of those social media sites! Once you place you mouse cursor over that image or click on it, a drop down menu would appear with big list of social media sites!

There are many WordPress plugin to integrate those Social Media submission tools. Incidentally, those Social Media submission tools have many widgets, Plain HTML, JavaScript codes to embed their tools in various blogging scripts. So it is really easy to embed those social media submission tools. I use AddToAny.

Adding article in social media is like recommending user of that social media to read the particular article as you have liked it and add in your favourite post in your profile in that social media! So as soon as you add a favourite in your profile, all your friends and visitor to your profile would come to know about your new favourite. And they may also get curious and click the link to check what is your favourite. That brings traffic to that article, added to the social media!

In order to add any article, one has to be a registered user of that social media site, as expected! One can add articles from his own blog to these social media sites, but it is not recommended or ethical! As it is always better when the praise or recommendation comes from second person!

Many social media sites do not like if the user adds articles from his own sites! I am not sure how they manage to find that out, but some media sites ban you as soon as they find out that you are submitting your own content! It happened with me once . For example you may ask your reader to make your favourite in technorati to get freebie.

3. The directory should have category according to your blog niche! If the web directory matches category of your blog niche, chances are they will have many blogs or sites listed there! So your site too will be listed with similar sites and that will surely help you get visitor as well as keywords.

4. Always use best keywords of your blog in TAG while submitting your blog to a directory! TAG is very important for smart SEO.

5. Your Blog title will be anchor text for link back to site or blog! So choose that smartly! And Google penalizes spam link back heavily.

6. Description of your blog should be short, precise and laden with keywords of your niche. This will give a good impression to casual surfer.

7. I prefer to submit sites manually. I have not used any software to submit yet. Manual submission may be quite a hard work, but it will help you choose quality web directories.

I totally agree that one should submit his blog or site in web directories. It may not give you millions of visitors, but web directories are source of finding sites or blogs similar to yours!

I always used to finish writing the article, and quickly press the button “PUBLISH” to publish the article and be happy with new content and post in my blog. Not any more. I have learnt a hard way that, finishing writing the article is the last thing to do before pressing the PUBLISH button! There are few things one must do:-
1. Revise what you have written. It not only serves to correct spelling, but also eliminates any grammatical mistakes.
2. Add tags. Write meaningful, relevant and useful tags for your article.
3. Add the article in relevant category. Do not write article about Make Money by Blogging and put in in category Free Wordpress Themes.
4. Write excerpts. It will help you after you publish the post or article.

Once the four things above done religiously, I hope you can publish the article. But still you are not over with! I recommend you to do the following :

1. Update it in your twitter account.
2. Update it in your Facebook Status.
3. Update in your MySpace Status.
4. Digg it.
5. Buzz it up in yahoo.
6. Reditt it.
7. Add in technorati.
8. Add in stumbleupon.

Do you need any kind of traffic or visitors to your blog ?

If your answer is, any “kind of traffic“, than the time has come to change, and if the answer is “targeted“, than the time has come to ask why, and if your answer is people related to my core blog topic, well, you have already arrived, and in that case, I will have question for you, “Are you Making Money from your traffic ?”

First thing first, who am I give you this kind of lecture ? very difficult question for me, because, to be very frank, I am giving this lecture to myself, posting in this blog, so that I can read it myself, and follow and prove a point ( Make Money by blogging is my only point). I do not need useless traffic or casual visitors from search engines. I need visitor who is reading this sentence, and will read to the end of this blog article. 2. Visitors who spends time and money
Yes, I need visitor to my site who is ready to spend some time. Read the articles, get convinced by the articles here. Also, they should be rich enough to spend few dollars when they are convinced by making some purchases! If they visit my sites doing nothing here, they will waste bandwidth of my shared hosting server. I will need any traffic on my blog when I will have earned enough to afford a dedicated server and start putting up Google AdSense Advertisement which will pay me for per thousand impressions, not click.

So far , I need only above two kind of visitors. I will be happy with 50 unique visitors a day provided they spend enough time on my blog and read the articles , leave quality comments, not spams, answer the questions I pose in my articles.

Now that I have decided what kind of visitors I want to my site and how many in numbers, I am hoping, my job has become easier to bring 50 unique visitors a day, for next 2 months. I am not in a hurry.

So far, you may have read ideas about making money online with hard work! But you have read in news papers, TV, Internet, that some people became millionaires in one night!
