There is an old saying, “one should not put all eggs in one basket”. It must be true for SEO too! I learned that lesson recently when one of blogs was wiped out off Google Search Engine Result Page! It did come back automatically after 3 weeks, but my visitors to the site was reduced by almost 80%!
Recently BING from Micorsoft has been doing pretty well! Yahoo was always there as Google alternatives. But many people, that included me, optimise their sites/blogs mainly for Google. I have decided not to repeat my mistake anymore.
I have realised a major difference between Google and Yahoo is keywords! Google may ban a site for using a lot of same keywords, while Yahoo would like that! Another thing is, Yahoo recognizes various forms of the same keyword.
Yahoo also considers a lot about quantity and quality of contents of the site. One should have as many as related contents in the blog with desired keywords to rank high in Yahoo.
Inbound links are important for both Yahoo and Google. Though Google keeps an watch on neighborhood, Yahoo does not seem to be very strict about it. In any case, good back links help increase visitor to a site which is the main objective of SEO. Visitors from backlink is more important for e-commerce sites as normally, backlink visitors may buy some product. For a blog which majorly provide information on niche topics, tips etc., visitors from search engines are important. Visitors from search engines tend to click on advertisements on blog and blogs majorly earns from advertising.
