Having more and more twitter followers help you increase visibility of your blog as well as new posts. So, having a big number of twitter follower can surly bring in visitors to your blog which will at least increase your Alexa ranking if you consider Twitter visitors are not useful for your kind f blog!

I have also experimented with some tricks and I am happy to see the results. Also I have realised that, there is not easy way or short cut to getting many Twitter follower in few days. Most probably, only way one can get followers grow quickly is to be president of USA, or a movie star, a celebrity. And if Twitter adds you as featured user to follow, it may help. Otherwise it is a hard work as well as time consuming. But it works and you get more Twitter followers for sure.

1. Complete your profile with picture, website or blog link, 2/3 lines interesting introduction. This is must for any serious and real Twitter. Try to avoid fake Twitter ID.

2. Always try to keep few smart one liners, tweet in your twitter page. Best is to write a one liner after every 5 tweets. This will give good impression to any visitor that you are not here only for increasing follower and your follower can expect some useful tweets, information by following you.

3. Put a link Follow me on Twitter with a Twitter Logo in your blog home page in the non scrolling area. It surely helps people follow you on Twitter.

4. Put a Tweet button on every post. This will also increase followers as some people like to retweet good posts. Re-tweeting an interesting tweet is also a trick to increase followers.

5. If you like an article and and if it is already Tweeted, do not forget to re-tweet it. This will increase your visibility as well as build your reputation as non-spammer.

6. Follow others. Search for like twitter users who have descriptions that is related to your blog or your profile, follow them. Do not spam, but follow users who are related. This is the most effective way of increasing followers if you are no Barack Obama or Britney Spears. Always follow back your followers with a thank you message.

7. Put your twitter ID while commenting blogs wherever they ask you to provide. This way, you can leave foot prints of your twitter ID everywhere you visit in internet world!

Few extra TIPs :
Normally follow the active twitters. Also when you visit a list of followers, always read their small biography and when they tweeted last. Avoid following those who have not tweeted for last 3 months, Chances are, they would not follow you back.

Never add any adult twitter profiles.

Always try to reply to any direct message, even with a small “thank you for sending message and link”.

I have used these tricks for last few days and I have got a good number of followers. But it is equally important to be visible in twitter than increasing followers. One should keep posting in Twitter in order to retain followers.
