I have always been thinking about a checklist for quality of a website or a blog. I think a checklist is a simple and easy way to evaluate a website or a blog :-
Here is my checklist :-
a. Content
b. Usability
c. Accessibility
a. Content
Content is king, most blogs, websites related to SEO, Earning Online scream at top of voice. Few check for content is they are of required minimum quality :
1. Contrast of back ground and text color should be enough and pleasing so that eyes do not get strain while reading.
2. When using some definition or jargon according to your topic, you should link to pages where detailed information of the jargon or definition can be found.
3. Content should be brief and informative. Are your contents so ?
4. Are all contents relevant with proper title ?
b. Usability
Usability deals with user friendliness, design of the site. Here are my list :-
1. All links must be working as well as it must be understandable ( clearly indicative) where those links will lead a reader.
2. Single click should be enough to reach the page where desired information is.
3. The colors used must be harmonious and logical.
4. Text size, font and color should be orgnised so that it is visible to naked eye to everyone.
5. The objective of the blog/website must be clearly indicative to any visitor.
6. Navigation should be easy and clearly visible.
c. Accessibility
How much time does it take to load your site or blog ? If it takes a long time, chances are, the visitor will not wait to see the site, specially the new ones. So here is a checklist for accessibility :-
1. Blog or website should be compatible to all web browsers. Standard scripts should be used.
2. Home page should be very light to load so that the site loads fast with dial up net connection too. Ideal home page is Google.com.
I will update this checklist in future too.
